I doubt that anyone reading these words has not relished the idea of exploring back country areas in a well maintained or restored Land Cruiser. They are a major reason we all love this brand of vehicle. The 40, 55, 60, and lately

So when I found out that there͛s a grass roots Land Cruiser restoration & parts shop less than two miles from me, I was intrigued. I contacted Chris Sigfrids and asked to stop by for a visit. He graciously agreed.

Like many of us, Chris͛ obsession with Cruisers started many moons ago. Back in 2001, he and his wife Kelly had just been married and he found a great 1973 55 Series. After a few tweaks & upgrades, a new baby on the way meant that this particular cruiser had to go. Chris quickly moved into a new Land Cruiser, then another, then another. Soon he realized he had a knack for finding great specimens, upgrading & fixing them, and finding a new Cruiserhead to take them home.

Sigfrids & Sons Was Born.

Today, Chris (who is a book publisher by day), works on the family business with his wife and two sons, and talented mechanic Tracy. Everyone has a hand in finding, fixing, photographing, and in some cases parting-out, Cruisers.

When I asked how they find such great specimens, his answer was ͞it depends.͟ Many of the trucks are ͞barn͟ or ͞field͟ finds. Looking for new projects is also one of the family͛s favorite hobbies. In some cases Chris will get to know an owner for many years, so when they͛re ready to part with their beloved Cruiser, they know it will be well taken care of.

One thing you͛ll notice about Sigfrids & Sons is that all of the Cruisers, parts, and collectibles are fairly priced. Chris doesn͛t feel the need to overcharge, and is patient to wait for the right buyer for each of his projects.

Whether selling a carefully reconditioned Cruiser or a hard to find part, Chris enjoys the story as much as the hardware. He͛s happy to explain the life of the Cruiser when possible. And when it comes to detail, hundreds of excellent photos for online sales are standard at Sigfrids & Sons.

While not every build can be a 100% full restoration (you must work with the project you have), Chris focuses on keeping things stock as much as possible. He also works with other local Cruiser shops (such as our friends at Red Line Land Cruisers) to ensure a quality product.
Over the past few months I've watched both the Sigfrids & Sons website as well as their Facebook page. One thing I really appreciate is the candor Chris presents with every item he's selling or working on. When you find the perfect part or Cruiser from Sigfrids, you'll know exactly what you're getting.

Hopefully this summer we'll have the chance to hit the dirt with a sampling of Sigfrids products, so follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook for the latest group adventures.
